Letter from the Board of Trustees

After many hours of effort, research, and work by the Board Technology Committee (BTC) and the Board Programs and Membership Committee (BPMC), which included going to the possible hotel venues to host our 2023 Annual Business Conference/Meeting (ABC/M) to verify their ability to facilitate our event, the Board of Trustees has come to a group conscience decision.

We appreciate the Fellowship’s wide spectrum of opinions and viewpoints. The Board of Trustees reviewed all the information and discussed at length the details of holding a combination in-person/virtual integrated (hybrid) event for 2023. Our group conscience decision is that an in-person ABC/M in 2023 would be the best choice at this time, and that it would not be fiscally responsible to the Fellowship to conduct a Hybrid Annual Business Meeting (ABM) this year. As facts became available to the Board, this option became the most viable. Despite the generous efforts of volunteers, the added cost of a hybrid event would have been in excess of USD $30,000 to the Fellowship.

As always, the Annual Business Meeting (ABM) will include virtual participation in the Conference Committee Breakout Session meetings to which all Fellowship members may attend on the Zoom platform.

We are looking forward to the in-person ABC/M hosted by the Orange County Intergroup held at the Hilton Costa Mesa from August 1st – 4th, 2023.

The Board of Trustees wish to thank the Board Technology Committee, all the volunteers, and the Technology Director for their time, efforts, and due diligence in working on this complicated proposal. We ask for your patience and grace while we navigate uncharted territory and continue to commit to do what is best for the Fellowship as a whole.

Respectfully Yours in Service,

The Board of Trustees

Letter from the Executive Director

Winter is drawing to a close here in South Texas, and Spring seems right around the corner. The hummingbirds will be crossing the Gulf of Mexico in the next few weeks, so we have our feeders ready to welcome them back. I hope that wherever you are, Spring’s warmth and green renewal is close!

F.W.S. has been busy the past few months. We moved into a beautiful new office space in San Antonio in early December, and have been settling in and re-organizing the physical space to maximize workflow. For those of you who mail in contributions or order forms, please note that our new mailing address is as follows: “The Augustine Fellowship, 2411 NE Loop 410, Suite 122, San Antonio TX 78217”. If you have a recurring contribution set up for automatic mailing from your bank, please make sure you update the address. (The phone number and fax number have not changed.)

The 2023 Annual Business Conference/Meeting will be held August 1st thru 4th at the Hilton Orange County/Costa Mesa, in beautiful Orange County California. Registration materials and other information will be available shortly, so keep an eye on the F.W.S. website for those. This will be my tenth year attending ABM (wow, how time flies!) and I am looking forward to seeing all those familiar faces as well as meeting some new ones. If you have never attended ABM, or it has been a while since you have joined us, I hope your Intergroup will consider sending a delegate this year. It is a great experience and very informative. Come enjoy the fellowship with other members and see how the business of the Conference is conducted.

From the F.W.S. Office to all our Fellows around the world, we send our best wishes.

Respectfully,

Pam Reyes

Executive Director

Read the Proposed Revised Version of
Chapters One, Two, and Three of the Basic Text

In honor of our fellowship’s 50th anniversary in 2026, a special edition of the Basic Text is being prepared. Plans include a special hardback cover, a foreword to the new edition, introductions to each personal story as well as additional personal stories, and, possibly, an index. Additionally, the text of the book will be edited to correct problems of style, grammar, and clarity. Work on the first three chapters is complete, and the committee working on the project, the 50BTS, would like member feedback on the work.
This is copyrighted draft literature, please do not post to any website.
